Sadly, there are over 7,500 homeless veterans in the Los Angeles area. While there are several programs in the area to assist these veterans and their families, the problem is still widespread and largely preventable. Likewise there are several challenges that range from hunger, housing, employment and mental health that continuously create obstacles for these veterans.
Our program is simple. We want to feed some homeless veterans twice a month, restore some hope by way of prayer and the reading of God’s word and send them on their way with a bag of groceries. While the veterans are on the premise, we will offer them mental health counseling in an effort to provide further assistance in helping their situation.
The major thrust of this project will be our food drive and fund raising efforts to make the program functional and sustaining. We will solicit food donations from all of the area food sources and national manufacturers that have food distribution centers in the region. We will also maintain a constant fund raising campaign to cover expenses and operational costs.
We have partnered with the Roger Williams Baptist Church and the African American Food Association to meet our goal is to feed up to 500 homeless vets and their families each month.
I once heard a gentleman say in front of a live audience at a major jazz festival, that, “American has not faced one enemy, that did not have to face a Black man”, and I thought, how profound a statement. Being a Viet Nam era veteran myself, that statement really made me reflect as to what I was a part of, being a U.S. Veteran. It also saddened me when I thought of all of the brothers, who are veterans that are homeless in my city (40% of all homeless black men in Los Angeles are veterans) and throughout the country.
After defending the honor of everyone that enjoys citizenship in this nation, these men, are left to be homeless, on the streets and damaged. Records will show that even our enemies would treat them better than that. The men that served this nation are vital parts of our community and should be benefited the resources and services that would insure that.
This organization stands proudly with our veterans and ask for your support as well. Join us in supporting this cause.
Homelessness for veterans has huge psychological effects on their ability to socialize, feel safe and function in a society that they feel largely has turned their back on them. Finding work or keeping employment is a challenge beyond their capacity. Hence, taking care of themselves, not to mention their families becomes more than a notion and practically impossible.
Providing clothing for the men and women that provided our national security, freedoms and liberties, is a huge task in the process of helping them get back on track. We welcome your used clothes, new clothes and financial contributions towards this effort. The men and women we help appreciate your assistance and let’s them know they efforts were appreciated as well.

One of the major issues confronting homeless veterans are their physical and mental health issues which hinders their ability to re-enter into mainstream society. The Veteran Administration and various veteran organizations have identified and attempted to develop outreach strategies to help veterans with these issues. We have brought onboard a group of mental health professionals to assist us in helping veterans with their issues.
Finding a solution to homelessness, mental illness, physical ailments and hunger has seemingly escaped our best thinkers. While economics seem to be the hurdle everyone wants to overcome as if it is the only solution to the problems, we have developed strategies using the resources our environment has made available to us.
